Abstract
- The situation remains absolutely horrible in Rwanda: 200,000, maybe 500,000 dead. Even Uganda is appealing to remove the thousands of rotting corpses in Lake Victoria.
- Since 1962, the date of independence, this is not the first time that such clashes have taken place. The year 1963 had been particularly murderous: 20,000 deaths. In 1990, thousands of Tutsi were massacred by the army. On the one hand, government forces with a Hutu majority. On the other, the Rwandan Patriotic Front made up of the Tutsi minority. A civil war, the Hutu community wanting at all costs to keep power and refusing any democratization.
- 48 hours ago [May, 22], the rebels of the Patriotic Front, backed by Uganda, took control of Kigali airport.
- At least 1,000,000 people took the path of exodus. Their lands of asylum or hope: Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Zaire.
