Abstract
- As Edouard Balladur's trip to China comes to an end, in Rwanda, French soldiers have taken up positions at Kigali airport. France is for the moment the only Western power to have troops at the airport. But as François Léotard clarified this morning, not to wage war but to proceed with the evacuation of hundreds of our nationals, all grouped together in the French school in Kigali.
- According to Philippe Gaillard, of the International Red Cross, everyone is currently leaving Rwanda, including MSF France. "The smell of blood is such in Kigali that we simply eliminate almost everything that moves. It is chaos and general massacre."
- This morning in town, the situation is calm but all the testimonies indicate that a massive attack by RPF troops is expected.
- For the moment, no decision has been taken concerning the fate of the 2,500 peacekeepers still there.
