Abstract
- Hundreds of wounded and starving Tutsi were found by the soldiers of Operation Turquoise in southwestern Rwanda. Real living dead who had been hiding for weeks. Real living dead who had been hiding for weeks. Hundreds of men, women and children, almost all seriously injured, sometimes excruciatingly mutilated.
- Yesterday [June 30] at 6.30 p.m., 94 wounded aboard helicopters landed at Goma airport. Army surgeons have operated on them much of the night and continue to do so, without interruption.
- This morning, the wounded, still in a state of shock, hardly dare to speak. Many have lost their entire families. These Tutsis tell us that they were hidden in the forest, piled up in holes that they had dug themselves. When they went out at night to get food, the Rwandan soldiers attacked them.
- They learned that the French army was in the region, regrouped. Yesterday [June 30], they met them. Since French soldiers entered Rwanda, Tutsi say the massacres have stopped.
- It's genocide, there are no other words to describe what happened in Rwanda. There are certainly a lot of Tutsi hiding in the forest. This morning, a hundred French soldiers set out to find them, we hope they will arrive in time to save them.
