- Rwanda still at the center of the news: the French operation Turquoise continues without incident. The French paratroopers and a convoy of 15 vehicles were able to enter the south-west of the country via the town of Cyangugu.
- Several refugee camps are now protected by French soldiers and a mass has even managed to be celebrated and organized in Nyarushishi under high French protection.
- At the Nyarushishi camp, vital food aid comes from the sky brought by the French army. Here 8,000 Tutsi are trying to survive. Many women and children. It's a race to eat.
- These refugees are the survivors of a large-scale massacre that took place in recent weeks in southwestern Rwanda. Of the 55,000 Tutsi in the Cyangugu region, 20 to 25,000 were reportedly killed by Hutu extremists. The others fled to Zaire.
- Those who survive today in Nyarushishi camp face malnutrition, malaria and dysentery.
- This morning, a mass was said by a Tutsi priest.
- In addition, Operation Turquoise continues: still in the Cyangugu region, around fifteen French military vehicles arrived at the start of the day from Zaire.
- The mission of the soldiers, always the same: to protect the civilians and dismantle the roadblocks of the Hutu militiamen. For the moment, Operation Turquoise is going smoothly. No shots were fired. French soldiers want to show that their mission is only humanitarian.
