Abstract
This file, written by French soldiers and transmitted to the Parliamentary Information Mission, brings together all the facts which, according to them, accuse the RPF of being the author of the attack against President Habyarimana's plane. In particular, it asserts that the missiles used are SA 16s and notes in parentheses: "according to the remains of missiles found at the scene of the attack".
Comment
The people who went to the crash site are, to our knowledge, members of the presidential guard, CRAPs of the para-commando battalion and French soldiers technical assistants to the Rwandan army (FAR). However, no missile debris has ever been handed over to justice, in this case Judge Bruguière, who was replaced until 2015 by Judge Trévidic. There is therefore no physical evidence that these missiles are SA 16s. Yet this assertion that the missiles are "Soviet-made SA 16s" is echoed by those interviewed by the UN Mission. parliamentary information, in particular François Léotard, Minister of Defence, and General Quesnot, Chief of Staff to the President of the Republic. It is difficult to believe that if the thesis of this file, according to which the RPF would be the author of the attack, is correct, the Rwandan or French soldiers made disappear these fragments of missiles. This hypothesis is therefore probably false and it was urgent to remove the murder weapon, as noted by MP Jean-Claude Lefort, vice-president of the Information Mission.
