Abstract
- Rwanda. The humanitarian airlift is actually only supposed to begin today, 24 hours late. Fourteen large transport planes are expected to land in the coming hours in Goma, in eastern Zaire.
- The German army will participate in this operation starting Monday [July 18].
- So far, only one plane has been able to land with 14 tons of food. According to humanitarian organizations, a crowd of at least 600,000 Rwandan refugees is now crowded into this huge camp on the border with Zaire.
- Insecurity is growing: thousands of Hutu soldiers are also arriving in Goma, and most have not been disarmed.
