Abstract
- An airlift to rescue Rwandan refugees gathered at the Zairian border. The operation, led by the United Nations, began this morning. Fourteen aircraft are planned. On board: food, water, and blankets. Fourteen tons of rice have already been delivered by the International Committee of the Red Cross. Starting tomorrow, 160 tons of food per day will be distributed in the refugee camps.
- As for the ceasefire announced yesterday [July 15] by the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), it has still not been implemented. Fighting between the RPF and government forces continues, particularly in Gisenyi, which is on the verge of falling to the RPF. The fighting resulted in one minor injury among the French soldiers, but this incident with the RPF was the result of a simple misunderstanding.
