Abstract
- They operated tirelessly, since yesterday [June 30] evening, treating gunshot wounds but especially machete and ax wounds. Mutilations to the foot, to the head, everywhere.
- Evacuated yesterday evening [June 30] to the rear base of Operation Turquoise, here in Goma in Zaire, these wounded, all of the Tutsi ethnic group, come from the southern region of Rwanda where they had taken refuge to flee the massacres.
- It was a French patrol that found them. Hidden in the mountains, hoping to no longer encounter the army and militias of the other ethnic group who pursue them night and day and who do not hesitate to put children to death.
- A young survivor from Bisesero: "The soldiers use rifles, machetes, bamboos, swords and all the traditional Rwandan weapons. And modern weapons. Even a one-day-old child was killed".
- In the afternoon, a second wave of evacuations of wounded Tutsi should follow here in Goma. Survivors of the massacres that the army had been looking for for a week. They and all those who do not yet dare to come out of their hiding place, holed up somewhere in the forests of Rwanda.
