- The big maneuvers have begun in Rwanda: the first French forces of Operation Turquoise entered the country yesterday afternoon [June 23] from the side of Zaire.
- About 40 elite soldiers headed for the Cyangugu region in the southwest where there are some 8,000 Tutsi refugees.
- 500 French soldiers have therefore taken up position in the border area of Zaire. They will soon be joined by 300 Senegalese soldiers.
