- In Rwanda, the interim government seems to have fled to Murambi, located three kilometers from Gitarama, under pressure from the rebels. This progression of the Tutsi rebellion continues to throw thousands of Hutus onto the roads.
- For Eliezer Niyitegeka, Minister of Information of the provisional government, "We cannot provide free information without first carrying out an investigation! Make us responsible for these assassinations, but after an investigation!".
- For his part, Prime Minister Jean Kambanda considers "that the population must defend itself against an aggression coming from Uganda, under the pseudonym of RPF".
