Abstract
- In Rwanda many are the witnesses of real killings between ethnic groups. We are talking about 200,000 and even 500,000 deaths in just a few weeks. For the city of Kigali alone, which six weeks ago still had 350,000 inhabitants, 60,000 lifeless bodies have been identified and buried in mass graves outside.
- Even today in Kigali, government forces launched an offensive against rebel positions.
- The Pope once again called for an end to the genocide in Rwanda.
- Despite the urgency, the Security Council postponed until next week the adoption of a resolution by which the international community could finally give itself the means to put an end to this tragedy.
- Bernard Kouchner, who went to Kigali, sounded the alarm: "[We must] try to give a little hope to those who are still threatened because the massacres continue".
