Abstract
- Ever more terrible toll in Rwanda: 500,000 people have reportedly died since the start of the civil war. The Red Cross field hospitals are always full of wounded children, bruised by the violence and who have often lost their parents. Doctor Olivier Delassus, Doctors of the World: "We find ourselves in situations that have not been described and explained anywhere".
- Bernard Kouchner, former Minister for Humanitarian Action, met the two rival factions, Hutu and Tutsi. He insists on the urgency of the situation. Bernard Kouchner: "It's one of the real humanitarian disasters of this time. So, using the word 'genocide' is not my habit. But these people were killed for what they were! Not for what they did! And so that's the definition of genocide."
- The only hope for those who want to get out, flee in particular to neighboring Burundi and join the cohort of some six million refugees who survive in Africa.
